SUMMARY:2026 Tricia Scobey Legacy Race
DESCRIPTION:My name is Tricia Scobey. I am a brain aneurysm rupture survivor. I am one of the lucky ones. \nSince my rupture in November 2020\, I’ve had three brain surgeries and two exploratory procedures plus countless scans and doctor appointments. It is my belief that no one should have to go through this. Unlike most people\, I survived my rupture and have minimal deficits as a result\, a rarity in itself. \nThe Bee Foundation has taught me that I have a voice\, and this 5K event is a way for me to use it. Each person on this journey matters\, and every dollar counts. I look forward to joining forces at the race and am truly honored to be able to thank you in person for helping to make a difference. Let’s make my survival story part of the majority\, instead of the very slim minority. \nPlease join me for an informal 5K Run/Walk Fundraiser in support of The Bee Foundation\, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing brain aneurysms through building awareness & funding research. \nIf you are unable to attend and would like to support\, you can use the fundraising link below.

SUMMARY:2026 Annie Mirra Memorial Race
DESCRIPTION:In 2020\, Annie Mirra lost her life at the young age of 29 due to complications from a brain aneurysm surgery. Annie dedicated her entire life to helping others. SUMMARY:2026 Rita Skertich Memorial 5k Fun Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:For the past five years\, TBF Ambassador and brain aneurysm survivor Elizabeth Ratta has hosted the Rita Skertich Race in honor of her grandmother\, Rita Skertich\, whose experience with an unruptured brain aneurysm inspired a lasting mission to improve awareness\, research\, and support for others. \nEvery registration and donation helps fund two important initiatives at UVM Medical Center: \nThe Rita Skertich Health Equity Research Grant supports research focused on the communities most affected by brain aneurysms. Black and Hispanic individuals are twice as likely to experience a brain aneurysm rupture as White individuals\, and women are 1.5 times more likely than men to suffer a rupture. By advancing health equity research\, this grant aims to improve understanding\, access to care\, and patient outcomes. \nThe Rita Skertich Fund for Brain Aneurysm Survivors provides financial assistance to patients and families facing the unexpected costs of brain aneurysm treatment and recovery. Thanks to supporters like you\, the fund has already helped 7 families by providing $3\,500 in direct financial assistance. \nWhen you join the Rita Skertich Race\, you’re helping fund lifesaving research\, reduce health disparities\, and provide meaningful support to brain aneurysm survivors and their families. \nIf you are unable to attend and would still like to support\, you can use the fundraising link below.
