Haleigh Lehmann: Survivor of a triple brain aneurysm rupture

Haleigh Lehmann shares her story of surviving a brain aneurysm rupture and how it has given her a new perspective on life.

In 2020 I had a triple brain aneurysm rupture and was air lifted to Los Angeles Medical Center. I had multiple strokes over the next few years along with two craniotomies at the age of 21.

I could go on and on about the struggles it left me and the deficits I face but overall it has given me a new appreciation for life and my family. During treatment of the residual aneurysms, I married my husband. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree. I’ve learned to appreciate so many of the small things in life. I’ve come to the understand that I will never be the same person that was wheeled into the operating room. Sometimes that does eat at me but just because I can’t be who I once was, that doesn’t mean I live an amazingly happy rest of my life. I enjoy coloring, baking, taking trips and laying around with my corgi Walter.

Brain aneurysms did change who I was, but I don’t believe they have made me who I am.
