Advocacy Creates Change
At The Bee Foundation for Brain Aneurysm Prevention, advocacy is more than raising awareness, it is creating change that saves lives. Every conversation, every letter, every phone call, and every voice shared with elected officials brings us one step closer to a future where fewer families experience the devastating impact of a brain aneurysm.
Our most important advocacy priority is advancing Ellie’s Law, landmark bipartisan legislation that has the potential to transform brain aneurysm research and prevention nationwide.
What Is Ellie’s Law?
Ellie’s Law is a bipartisan, bicameral bill that would significantly increase federal investment in brain aneurysm research through the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
If enacted, the legislation would authorize $100 million over five years dedicated specifically to brain aneurysm research. This critical investment would help researchers:
- Improve early detection and screening strategies.
- Develop more effective treatments.
- Better understand who is at risk.
- Advance prevention efforts that could save thousands of lives.
For far too long, brain aneurysm research has been underfunded despite the devastating consequences aneurysms can have on individuals and families. Ellie’s Law represents an opportunity to change that.
Momentum Is Growing
Support for Ellie’s Law continues to build in the 119th Congress. The legislation currently has:
- 6 bipartisan Senators serving as co-sponsors.
- 55 bipartisan Members of the House of Representatives serving as co-sponsors.
This growing support is encouraging, but we still have work to do. Every additional co-sponsor brings us closer to securing the research funding needed to improve outcomes and prevent future brain aneurysms.
Take Action Today
Members of Congress are most influenced by the people they represent. That’s why your voice matters.
Here’s how you can help:
- Call your Senators and Representative and ask them to co-sponsor Ellie’s Law.
- Send a personalized letter or email using The Bee Foundation’s advocacy letter template.
