A field of over 300 runners and walkers gathered on Sunday to honor the memory of Brittany McCarthy, who tragically died of a brain aneurysm three years ago at the age of 21.Ā
Former Susan Wagner star Joe Perazzo, who won in a time of 18 minutes, 28 seconds, was only separated by a few hundredths of a second with second-place finisher David Michaels, who was recorded with the same time. Mario Reyes finished third (19:01).
” I was going for my morning run at Clove Lakes Park this morning and I ran into Dave Michaels who asked if I wanted to race at Wolfes Pond so I said, āyes,ā ā said Perazzo, whoās currently not competing collegiately.
āI am still trying to run 20-30 miles a week to stay fit enough for the NYC Marathon and I am trying to hold on to my previous fitness to run around 2 hours and 40 minutesā
Unlike the men, the womenās race was totally dominated by Gerri Greco (20:52), who beat runner-up Riley Tefft (21:22) and Patricia OāBrien (22:38) by a big margin.

The second and third legs will be the Victoriaās Run 5K on Oct. 13 and The Crimson Rise 5K on Nov. 17.
