Dr. Peyton Nisson Named First Ever Annie Mirra Grant Recipient

We are proud to announce Dr. Peyton Nisson, MD of Barrow Neurological Institute, as TBF’s first ever recipient of The Annie Mirra 2025 Preventative Brain Aneurysm Research Grant.

In 2020, the world lost a bright star when Annie Mirra passed away at the young age of 29 due to complications from a brain aneurysm. Her memory lives on through the love of her family and friends, who have raised over $50,000 for brain aneurysm research and honor her spirit every year at the TBF Annie Mirra Memorial 5K.

Originally from Irvine, California, Dr. Nisson is currently a neurosurgery resident at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

His project titled “The Uterus and Cerebral Aneurysms; A Novel Organ-Hormone Axis in the Pathogenesis of Aneurysms” researches the connection between reproductive organs and aneurysm formation. Dr. Nisson is seeking to understand the difference in aneurysm risk between genders, as women have a higher risk than men.
