Announcing Our First-Ever TBF AVM Preventative Research Grant Recipient: Dr. Andrew T. Hale!

We are thrilled to announce Dr. Andrew T. Hale as the inaugural recipient of the TBF AVM Preventative Research Grant!

The Yezzi family honors their son, Zac Yezzi, who is a brain aneurysm, AVM, and stroke survivor. This year the Yezzi family is supporting TBF’s first ever AVM Research grant!

Originally from Hudson, Ohio, Dr. Hale discovered his passion for medicine early on. His journey began in a college research lab, where he realized he wanted to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and patient care. That vision led him to pursue a career in translational medicine, turning research into real-world solutions for his patients.

Currently, Dr. Hale is at the University of Alabama Birmingham, and is spending a year of his residency in South Africa.

Dr. Hale’s research focuses on AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation) prevention and treatment, with the goal of bringing new hope to patients and families affected by these complex conditions.

You might recognize Andrew as a 2024 TBF Preventative Research Grant recipient, a role that he says has been deeply meaningful. He describes working with TBF as an “incredible experience,” giving him the opportunity to meet patients from across the country and witness the powerful impact of our community. It also fuels his commitment to the important work that still lies ahead.

We couldn’t be more excited to support Dr. Hale and the groundbreaking work he is doing.
